Tal Chhapar Wildlife Sanctuary is located near Chhapar town in Churu district of Rajasthan which was given the status of a sanctuary on 11 May 1966. Let us tell you that this sanctuary is spread over the Thar Desert and the famous Shekhawati region, in which many types of wildlife can be seen.
Earlier this area was a hunting reserve for the erstwhile royal family of Bikaner. The sanctuary is spread over an almost flat area and is covered with acacia, Prosopis trees, and broad grasslands. The area of Tal Chhapar Sanctuary is 7.19 square kilometers.
Recently, the famous Talchhapar Blackbuck Sanctuary, Churu, has received protection against the proposal to reduce the size of the Eco-Sensitive Zone by the State of Rajasthan. It was given the status of a sanctuary in the year 1966. It is a sanctuary surrounded by the Thar (Great Indian Desert) desert.
Wildlife in Tal Chhapar Sanctuary
Tal Chhapar is an ideal place to spot blackbucks which are found here in large numbers. Apart from this, many desert animals and reptile species can also be seen in this sanctuary. A total of 122 species of birds, including both migratory and resident, reside in the sanctuary.
The migratory birds seen here come from Central Asia and Europe. Other commonly seen birds at Talchhapar include Harriers, Pale Harriers, Eastern Imperial Eagles, Marsh Harriers, Sparrow Hawks, Short-toed Eagles, Tawny Eagles, Cracked Lakers, Demoorel Cranes, Little Green Bee-eaters, Skylarks, Green Bee-eaters, Brown Pigeon, and Black Ibis.
Tal Chhapar Sanctuary is a birdwatcher’s paradise and is a major tourist attraction. A large number of tourists come here during the winter season.

Safari is conducted daily from 8 am to 5 pm in the Talchhapar Sanctuary of Rajasthan.
If you want to take a jeep safari then you will have to pay Rs 3500 for one trip. The entry fee for Tal Chhapar Sanctuary is Rs.20.
