Guru Shikhar, located in Mount Abu in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan state, is a place that is one of the most special tourist places visited by tourists in Rajasthan. Guru Shikhar is the highest peak in the Aravalli range, located at a distance of about 15 km from Mount Abu.

The height of Guru Shikhar is 1722 meters above sea level, due to which one can have a breathtaking view of the Aravalli range and the hill station of Mount Abu from here. There are shops on both sides of the stairs which have been made to reach the summit. From where tourists can easily get food and drink.
Guru Shikhar peak
Guru Shikhar was named after Guru Dattatreya, who is said to have resided on this peak during his days as a monk. He is known to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The cave on top of this Shikhar has been converted into a temple in his remembrance. In which Lord Vishnu is worshipped.
Guru Shikhar Temple
The name of Guru Dattatreya is made up of two words, Atreya and Datta. Atreya means son of Atri, Atri is a sage from Hindu mythology who composed a number of hymns. There is another temple located here which is built in dedication to Guru Dattatreya’s mother Anasuya. There is a fire pit on this Shikhar, which is always lit.
Other temples near it include Chamundi Temple, Shiva Temple, and Meera Temple. Apart from this, the Mount Abu Observatory located here is very special. There is also a Shanti Park which is located close to Gurushikhar and attracts a lot of tourists. There is a big ancient bell on one of the high cliffs of the summit.

It is open for tourists seven days a week from 8 in the morning to 6.30 in the evening.
Best time to visit Guru Shikhar
The best time to visit here is during the months of October to March. If you visit this place during October and November then during this time the weather gets more cloudy and hazy. At such times climbing to this Shikhar feels like walking through clouds.

By Road: Guru Sikhar is located 14 km from Nakki Lake at Guru Shikhar Rd. One can easily reach here by hiring a local taxi.
