Mehandipur Balaji Story
According to a legend, a great devotee of Hanuman Ji lived in a village in Rajasthan. Every day he would take out cow’s milk with his hands and offer it to Hanuman Ji. As the days passed, he got old and his health started deteriorating.
Due to ill health, the devotee was not able to offer milk to Hanuman Ji for several days. After that Hanuman Ji, himself used to come to the house of his devotee and drink the milk of his cow. For long days, the devotee was upset because his cow was not giving milk.
One day he kept an eye on the cow secretly for the whole day and when Hanuman Ji came to drink cow’s milk, taking the form of a child, the devotee mistook him as a devil child and attacked him with a stick. After this Hanuman Ji pardoned his devotee and gave his darshan. It is believed that there are still marks of injury on the idol.
During the British rule, in 1910, Balaji automatically abandoned the hundreds of years old Chola. This Chola was to be flown in the Ganges. The devotees reached the nearby Mandavar railway station. The British station master stopped the Chola from being taken free of cost and started carrying its luggage.
But the miraculous Chola sometimes becomes heavy and sometimes light. The confused railway station master eventually had to let Chola go without luggage and he also saluted Balaji’s miracle. After this, a new Chola was offered to Balaji.
There is such a belief about this temple that every day a large number of people reach here to get relief from obstacles like ghosts. Science does not believe in ghosts and spirits, but here everyday people troubled by phantom obstacles from far and wide come for salvation.
Every day at 2 o’clock Kirtan is held in the court of Pretraj Sarkar, in which the upper shadows on the people are removed. There are some rules of this temple that are important to remember while visiting.
