This attractive lake was founded by Arunoraja or Anaji Chauhan between 1135 and 1150 AD. This lake was built for the better life of the people here. Construction of this lake began when a dam was built across the Luni River.
There are many pavilions near the lake known as ‘Baradari’. Most of the pavilions located here were built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the year 1637.
A Daulat Bagh garden located here was built by the Mughal ruler Jahangir. Also known as Subhash Udyan. This garden is famous for its greenery and natural surroundings.
In order to preserve the beauty and beauty of this lake, the Rajasthan High Court has prohibited any other construction in its catchment area.
